Swedish coast defence ships Göta, Svea and Thule rebuilt according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1899-1900 no. 7

An item reported that the Swedish turrets Göta, Svea and Thule were to be rebuilt.(1) Their armament if 2-25cm guns, 4-15cm guns, 4-12cm guns and 5-5,7cm guns was to be replaced by 1-25cm gun, 7-15cm guns placed in movable turrets and 11-5,7cm guns. The ammunition was to be transported via armoured tubes. The surfaced torpedo tubes were to be removed, the submerged stayed. As far as possible were the wooden parts replaced by iron made. The Göta was to be fitted out as an admiral’s ship.

1. Of the Svea-class, Svea launched in 1886 at Lindholmen just like the Göta in 1891 and the Thule in 1893 at Bergsund.
