An item referred to the London Daily Express which reported that a comparison was made between food supplied to the sailors in the US and the Royal British navies. It was clear that the quality of the food on board of the British warships was extremely worse resulting in a large number of complaints. In the last 40 years was this not improved. The results were that sailors could not sent their whole salary to their families but had to spent a part of it for better food and the many desertions while visiting American harbours. Featured was to supply better food comparable with the quality on board of US warships.
