Dutch shipping company Mij. Houtvaart ordered the building of a bulk carrier at Alblasserdam, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper De Maasbode dated 23 April 1964
An item dated Rotterdam 22 April reported that the Dutch shipping company Mij. Houtvaart at Rotterdam ordered the building of a 30.000 ton bulk carrier at the Verolme shipyard at Alblasserdam while a sister ship was to be built at Verolme shipyard at Cork, Ireland. Both ships were to be added to a pole and managed bij the above mentioned company.
