Dutch shipping company Rederij Amsterdam ordered building bulk carrier at Alblasserdam, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper De Tijd dated 20 April 1966
An item dated Rotterdam 20 April reported that the Dutch Verolme shipyard at Alblasserdam was ordered to built a 31.000 ton deadweight bulk carrier with as dimensions 183 x 25,62 metres and a minimum speed of 15,2 knots for account of the Dutch shipping company Rederij Amsterdam. She was to be delivered on 25 May 1967.
