Ships docked in the Prins Hendrik dok at Middelburg, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspapers in 1879

 The Middelburgsche Courant dated 11 February published an item dated Flushing the 10th reporting the arrival of the Dutch bark Marie&Antoinette captain Hemems coming from Antwerp to be docked at Middelburg.

The Middelburgsche Courant dated 27 February reported that the same morning [Wednesday] the 3-mast ship ‘s Gravenhage was docked. The edition dated 28 March reported that she left the same day the dock and that at the same time the 3-mast ship Maibit and the bark Triplex were docked. The edition dated 5 April reported that both ships had left the dock again.

The Middelburgsche Courant dated 30 April reported that a day earlier the bark ship Jacobus Johannes was dry docked. On 2 May she left the dock again.

The Middelburgsche Courant dated 2 June reported that the 3 mast ship India was docked that same day. She left the dry dock the 9th.

The Middelburgsche Courant dated 23 June reported that the steamship Gelderland captain Boon entered the same day the dry dock. An item dated Flushing the 23rd reported the arrival on the 22nd of the Gelderland coming from Rotterdam. The 29th left she dock at 23.00 o’clock.

The Middelburgsche Courant dated 14 July reported that the schooner Houthandel entered the dry dock the same day. The edition dated the 31st reported that the same day the brig Nerva entered the dry dock and placed behind the Houthandel.

The Vlissingse Courant dated 3 August reported that the 2nd the steamship Drenthe arrived coming from Rotterdam to be docked at Middelburg. The Middelburgsche Courant dated 9 August reported the departure of the Drenth captain De Jong on the evening of the 7th left the dock towards Rotterdam.

The Vlissingse Courant dated 14 August wrote that lately more and more large steamships used the dry dock at Middelburg which was well suited for this purpose. It was still a miss that Flushing did not possessed such a large dock caused by the disapproval in the past by the parliament. Main objection against the dock located at Middelburg was that it took more as one hour to get there. Underway the ships had to pass three bridges with hardly any space to manoeuvre. The Gelderland managed to arrived after more as an hour travelling supported by a small river tug in Middelburg without any damaged. The Drenth however refusing the support of a tug returning from Middelburg needed five hours before arriving at the locks at Flushing and with a damage of ƒ 800-1.000.

The Middelburgsche Courant dated 15 September published an item dated Flushing the 13th reporting the arrival of the British Georg Bell captain Allen coming from Antwerp and continuing her voyage to the dry dock at Middelburg. The newspaper Het Zuiden dated 18 September reported that she arrived last Saturday. She could not be docked at Antwerp due to striking labourers there. Her homeport was Falmouth. The edition dated 24 September reported her departure that day.

The Middelburgsche Courant dated 17 December reported that the same day the steamship Stad Middelburg left the dock and departed towards Flushing.

The Het Zuiden dated Sunday 18 December reported that the arrival of the steamship Scholten of the Nederlandsche Amerikaansche Stoomvaartmaatschappij in the dock was expected. Her stern was heavily damaged on the Nieuwe Waterweg and she needed repairs. The Vlissingse Courant dated 28 December reported that she last Wesnesday was towed towards Middelburg coming from Rotterdam and docked on the 27th.
