French ironclad Hoche destined to become target according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1913-1914 no. 3

An item referred to the magazine Mon. D.l. fl. dated 5 April that the French navy intended to ground the aged ironclad Hoche (1) on the l’Esquillado so she could be used as target for the fleet.

Note
1. A combined turret-barbette ship laid down in July 1881 at Lorient, launched in September five years later, completed in 1890 and finally sunk while used as a target on25 November 1913. She was nicknamed Grand Hotel due to her tower shaped superstructure amidships.
