The French navy in 1820 according to the local Dutch newspaper Goessche Courant

This local Dutch newspaper published 1 September 1820 a small news item dealing with the French navy. She consisted of 50 ships of the line, 31 frigates, 13 corvettes, 25 brigs and 69 goeletttes and smaller vessels. On stocks were 10 ships of the line. Within 6 years the navy was to be enforced with 23 ships of the line and 17 frigates. In service were 2 ships of the line, 7 frigates, 7 corvettes, 13 brigs and 11 goelettes.
