American light cruiser USS Spokane (CL-120) 1944-1972

Off the Juneau-class. Laid down at the shipyard of the Federal Shipbuilding and Drydock Company, Kearny, New Jersey, USA on 15 November 1944, sponsored by Miss Patrice Munsel launched on 22 September 1945, commissioned 17 May, reclassified CLAA-120 on 18 March 1946, reclassified AG-191 on 1 April 1966, decommissioned and in reserve at New York 27 February 1950, stricken on 15 April 1972 and finally sold to Luria Brothers&Company Inc. to be broken up on 17 May 1973. General specifications of her class are a displacement of 6.096 tons/6.000 long tons (light)-8.332 tons/8.200 long tons (full load) with as dimensions 165 x 16,21 x 7,90 metres or 541’x 53’2” x25’1’. The two geared steam turbines supplied 75.000 ho allowing a speed of 31,8 knots. Her crew numbered 801 men. The armament consisted of 2x6-12,7cm/5” guns, 7x4-4cm Bofors guns and 16 2cm Oerlikon guns.
