German heavy cruiser Admiral Hipper 1934-1952

Of the Admiral Hipper-class with as sister ship Blücher and Prins Eugen. Her building at the shipyard of Blohm&Voss, Hamburg, Germany was ordered on 30 October 1934, laid down on 6 July 1935, launched on 6 February 1937, commissioned on 25 April 1939, scuttled on 3 May 1945, salvaged and finally broken up between 1948 and 1952. Building costs 85.860.000 German Mark. During her building was her bow renewed just like the funnel main structure. With a displacement of 14.050 9standrad) 16.180-18.491 (maximum) long tons were her dimensions 19,50 (between perpendiculars)-20,500 (over all) x 21,3 x 7,2 (maximum) metres. The 3 steam turbines delivered 133.691hp/98.285 kW. allowing a speed of 32,6 knots with a range of 6.500 nautical miles by a speed of 17 knots. Her crew numbered 1.382-15.99 men. Her armament consisted of 4x2-20,3cm/8” guns, 12-10.5cm guns, 8/12-3,7cm anti aircraft guns, 8/32-2cm anti aircraft machineguns, 12-53,3cm torpedo tubes, 96 sea mines and she could take 3 Arado Ar 196 aircraft with her. She was also armoured consisted of on the upper deck 1,2-3,cm upper deck, main deck 2-5cm, main belt 7-8cm while the turrets and the conning tower were protected by 7-10,5cm respectively 5-15cm thick armour.
