Planned strength of the Federal German navy according to the Dutch newspaper De Nederlander dated 23 August 1848

An item dated Cologne, Germany the 20^th referred to tidings received from Hamburg, Germany dated the27^th reporting that the German navy congress decided that the German fleet was to exist of 8-60 gun sailing frigates, 4-40 gun sailing, 6 screw steam frigates of 500 hp, 1.500 tons tonnage and armed with guns of the heaviest calibre and 6 steam corvettes with 300-400 hp, 900-1.200 tons tonnage armed with mortars and bombs.
