Planned strength of the Federal German navy according to the Dutch newspaper De Nederlander dated 23 August 1848

An item dated Cologne, Germany the 20th referred to tidings received from Hamburg, Germany dated the27th reporting that the German navy congress decided that the German fleet was to exist of 8-60 gun sailing frigates, 4-40 gun sailing, 6 screw steam frigates of 500 hp, 1.500 tons tonnage and armed with guns of the heaviest calibre and 6 steam corvettes with 300-400 hp, 900-1.200 tons tonnage armed with mortars and bombs.
