Dutch submarine Hr.Ms. K XI visited Tunis, Tunisia according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 21 December 1925

An item reported that the Dutch submarine Hr.Ms. K XI (1) lieutenant 1st class G.E.V.L. Beckman (2) which departed on 15th October from Nieuwediep, Netherlands towards the Dutch East Indies visited underway Tunis, Tunisia. Her commanding officer participated in the Commémoration des héros morts pour la Patrie 1914-1918 by lying a wreath at the French statue on the churchyard at Tunis.

Laid down at the shipyard Fijenoord, Rotterdam, Netherlands on 9 December 1922 with yard number 294, launched on 24 April 1924, commissioned on 24 March 1925, decommissioned in April 1945, all useful parts removed, transferred to the Australian navy and scuttled in 1946 at Rothtnest Graveyard. Rottnest Island, Australia.
2. Gustaaf Eugènius Victor Lambert Beckman 23-01-1890 Amsterdam, Netherlands-24-04-1961 Heemstede, Netherlands). Retired from the active service on 01-02-1930 in the rank of lieutenant 1st class.
