An item dated London, England 3rd reported that according
to the latest tidings received from British Indies the British expedition was
underway towards Persia.
She consisted of 26 sail transports, 3 steamships if the Bombay stationed steamship company and 4
smaller vessels with a total measurement of 30.000 ton for which the British
government each day around ƒ 12.000 hire paid. The fleet was escorted by seven
large steam warships. Supreme commander was admiral Henry Lake.(1)
