British expeditionary force underway towards the Persian Gulf according to the Dutch newspaper Nederlandsche staascourant dated 4 December 1856

An item reported that the British expeditionary force for Persia fitted out in the British Indies was already underway. No lees as 43 transports with a total measurement of 30.000 ton were fitted out to transport the army. Further more were seven of the largest steam warships fitted out for this expedition.(1)

1. Fitted out in the so-called Anglo-Persian war with to conquer the Citadel of Heart, Afghanistan from the Persian Shah Naser al-Din Shah.
