British expeditionary force underway towards the Persian Gulf according to the Dutch newspaper Nederlandsche staatscourant dated 18 October 1856

An item referred to a letter published by the British newspaper Globe of London which reported that the British expedition towards the Persian Gulf consisted of 5.050 military excluded 1.000 sailors and marines, further more of 14 steamships of which six were armed with 4-10 68pd guns, 10 heavily armed gunboats, 4 schooners and other small vessel to disembark the troops and 20 or 24 transports.
