British expeditionary force underway towards the Persian Gulf according to the Dutch newspaper Java-bode dated 13 December 1856

An item referred to the newspaper Bengal Hurkaru dated 20th November reported the departure on the 8th of six steamships and seven sail ships belonging to the Persia expedition towards the Persian Gulf. The steamships Precursor and Pottinger arrived with the transports Maria Gray and Result at Fingorla. The 64th regiment was on the 5th embarked on board of the steamships and the next day was the 20th regiment to embark on board of the sail ships.(1)
