An item referred to the newspaper Globe reporting about the preparations
for the intended expedition towards Sevastopol.
Admiral Boxer was responsible for the disembarkation of the troops. The
transports were divided in four squadrons, each with his own extra ordinary
flag and commanded by a naval officer to prevent all kinds of confusion. Each
army division had his own squadron of transports which was escorted by a small
squadron of warships. This large fleet consisted of steamships of a larger
size, capacity and speed than ever before.(1)
