Russian paddle steam frigate Kamchatka visited the Dutch naval harbour Den Helder, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated Tuesday 25 June 1850

An item reported the arrival on Wednesday morning at Den Helder, Netherlands by the Russian steam frigate Kamchatka (1) with on board His Royal Highness Duke of Leuchtenberg.(2) There she was welcomed by the Dutch governor of the province Noord-Holland, the commanding officer of the naval base Den Helder and the Russian ambassador and the consul general. The frigate departed on 12 June Lisbon, Portugal and was underway harassed by worse weather. Horsepower 400 hp, a crew numbering 200 men and an armament of 24 guns.

1. Paddle steam frigate, launched at the shipyard of William Brown, New York, USA on 24 April 1840, launched on 4 November 1840, stricken on 28 May 1866 and broken up in 1867. The armament consisted of 2-9.65” shell guns, 12/16-24pd long guns and 2-60pd guns.
