American destroyer USS Nicholson (1913-1936) on 1 September 1915

Building approved in 1912. First material ordered after 0,5 month. Keel laid after 9 months. Delivered to the US government after 2 years and 4,5 months. Contracted building time 2 years so 4,5 months too late.

1. O’Brien-class. Ordered in March 1913. Laid down at the shipyard of William Cramp and |Sons, Philadelphia, USA with yard number 405 on 8 September 1913, launched on 19 August 1914, commissioned on 30 April 1915. Hull number DD-52.
