American destroyer USS O’Brien (1913-1935) on 1 September 1915

Building approved in 1912. Displacement 1.050 tons. First material ordered after 0,5 month. Keel laid after 9 months. Delivered to the US government after 2 years and 5, months. Contracted building time 2 years so 5,5 months too late.

1. Of the O’Brien-class. Ordered in March 1913. Laid down at the shipyard of William Cramp and |Sons, Philadelphia, USA with yard number 404 on 8 September 1913, launched on 29 July 1914 and commissioned on 22 May 1915. Hull number DD-51.
