Austrian cruiser Admiral Spaun performed well during trials according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad 1910-1911 no. 9



An item referred to the magazine Schiffbau which reported that the first with turbines fitted out Austrian cruiser executed her trials. The Admiral Spaun achieved a maximum speed of 27,07 miles, which was more as the designed 26 miles. During the 8-hours trial with all turbines working was maximum 26,4 miles achieved and 21.000 hp developed. This new fast 3.500 ton was built by the navy at Pola [nowadays Pula, Croatia] with as building cists 8,700.000 million crones. Probably were 2 or 3 sister ships be built.(1)

1. Laid down on 30 May 1908, launched on 30 October 1909, commissioned on 15 November 1910, handed over at Pola to Italy in November 1918, in 1919 handed over to the United Kingdom as part of the reparations, which sold her and she was finally broken up in Italy in 1920.
