British First Sea Lord Wilson against Dreadnought-policy according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1910-1911 no. 3

An item referred to a rumour published in British magazines that the new First Sea Lord sir Wilson was a opponent of the Dreadnought-policy. In his opinion was a smaller type to be built with an armament comparable with the Lord Nelson, namely 2-34cm guns and 10-23,4cm guns, a displacement of around 16.000 tons and a minimum speed of 21 miles.

1. Sir Arthur Knyvet Wilson 4 March 1842 Swaffham, Norfolk, England-25 May 1921 Swaffham, Noroflk, England) who left the Royal Navy in the rank of Admiral of the Fleet. (1 March 1907). He was only appointed as First Sea Lord while he supported the ideas of Fisher, but because of his unsuitable personality he served just briefly as First Sea Lord 1910-1911.
2. The last British built pre-dreadnought, laid down at the shipyard of Palmers Shipbuilding and Iron Company, Jarrow, England on 18 May 1905, launched on 4 September 1906, completed in October 1908, commissioned on 1 December 1908, decommissioned in May 1919 and sold to be broken up on 4 June 1920. Her armament was a mix of guns, the heaviest were2x2-30,5cm/12” guns and 10-23,4cm/9.2” guns.
