British torpedo boats needed another colour then be black painted according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1910-1911 no. 10

An item reported that in the Royal British Navy more and more was protested against the fact that the torpedo boats were black painted causing a larger visibility for the enemy during daytime. The scouts which were 3 times larger were light grey painted.
