German continued with building submarines according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1909-1910 no. 3

An item reported that the building of six submarines at the Germania werft and the Imperial shipyard at Danzig was nearing completion. The first boats could perform their trials in the beginning of the summer, mainly off Danzig. The bay at Eckernförde where in the past the first submarines were tested remained available for trials. At the yard at Danzig where the U 3 and U4 were being built, the U 2 was already delivered. The yard was fitted out with all needs for submarine building. The Germania werft built the U 5-U8.
