Tests with wireless telegraphy devices on board of British warships started according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1899-1900 no. 10

An item reported that at Portsmouth, England a course was started for wireless telegraphy and that the Hector and other ships were fitted out with the necessary devises. If signalling via this method was a success and a sufficient number of officers trained were all large ships to be fitted out with wireless telegraphy.
