Chinese torpedo boats Nos. 558-559 delivred by German shipyard F. Schichau according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens 1896 nr. 3

An item reported that the Chinese torpedo boats Nos. 558 and 559 built in the first half of the spring by the German shipyard F. Schichau, Elbing, Germany had as dimensions 39 (maximum) x 4,8 (maximum) metres, a horsepower of 1.200 ihp and a speed of 23 (contracted)-24,4 (trial) knots. Fitted out with a locomotive boiler and armed with one bow and two deck torpedo guns and 2-3,7cm Hotchkiss quick firing guns.
