Danish armoured battery Skjold launched at Copenhagen, Denmark according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1896 no. 7
An item referred to the Neue Preussische Kreuz-Zeitung reported that on 9 May at the Royal Navy yard at Copenhagen, Denmark the armoured battery Skjold was launched. She was of a new design compared with the six other armoured ships in the Danish (5 with one turret, one with 2 turrets), while she was fitted out with 4 turrets. Three turrets were protected by 11cm, the fourth by 20cm thick armour. The belt had a thickness of 22,5cm and the deck 5cm. Completely steel built with a displacement of 2.150 tons. Horsepower 2.200 ihp allowing a normal speed of 13 knots. The armament consisted of 1-24cm gun, 3x1-12cm guns, 4-4,7cm quick firing guns and 1 machinegun.
