German battle fleet scuttled by own crews at Scapa Flow according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant dated 23 June 1919

An item dated London, England 21st reported that except for the battleship Baden  all interned German battleships and battle cruisers at Scapa Flow, Orkney Islands, Scotland sink just like 5 light cruisers.(1) Three light cruisers were beached by tugs just like 18 destroyers, 4 destroyers remained floating but the others sunk. The German vice admiral (2) and most of the sailors were kept as prisoners on board of the British ships. Some tugs refused given orders with at result that the British fired at them killing and wounding some Germans. According to the armistice were the German ships laid up with just a small crew for maintenance but without German guards.

Ten battleships SMS Bayern, Friedrich der Grosse, Grosser Kurfürst, Kaiser, Kaiserin, König Albert, Kronprinz Wilhelm, König, Markgraf and Prinzregent Luitpold, 5 battle cruisers Derfflinger, Hindenburg, Moltke, Sedlitz and Von der Tann, 4 light cruisers Dresden, Karlsruhe, Brummer and Cöln. Not three but four light cruisers, namely the SMS Emden, Nürnberg, Frankfurt and Bremse were beached and not 18 destroyers/torpedo boats were beached, 4 kept floating and 32 sunk.
2. Rear admiral Ludwig von Reuter (9 February 1869 Guben, Prussia-18 December 1943 Potsdam, Germany) who ordered the scuttling on 21 June 1919. On 29 Augustus 1939 promoted to the rank of full admiral.
