Italian navy ordered large number of guns from British firm Armstrong according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1895 nr. 10

An item reported that the Italian minister of navy ordered the delivery by the firm Armstrong at Pozzuoli of 12 guns of large calibre for the ships which now were being built and further more 60 smaller guns. In next autumn were on  several ships the armament to be replaced.
