Chinese torpedo boat unable to stop Chinese female pirates according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 16 January 1922
An item referred to the Japan Advertiser which
reporting that a Chinese gang of female pirates active in the North Chinese
waters managed to repel an attack of a Chinese torpedo boat. The gang numbered
around 70 young women commanded by a woman of 30 years and which was based
around 30 miles away from Kainan Island. With their five junks were underway
all vessels especially small ones attacked and plundered. The torpedo boat was
sent out to end their activities.
