East German Project 206 Shtorm-class torpedo boats 1968-1990
Similar to the type serving in the Soviet Union navy and delivered in 1968-1969 to found an own flotilla. Called by the NATO the Shershen-class. Designing of what was called Project 183 torpedo cutters started in 1956 and the first boat was delivered to the Soviet Union navy in October 1960. East Germany received totally 18 of these boats since October 1968 until October 1971 and which were decommissioned between 1984 and early 1990.
Details according to Jane’s Fighting ships 1976-1977: displacement 150 (standard)-160 (full load) tons and as dimensions 35,2 x 7,1 x 1.5 metres or 115.5 x 23.1 x 5 feet. The armament consisted of 2x2-3cm/65 AK-230 guns, 12 depth charges to be used against submarines and 4x1-53,3cm/21” torpedo tubes. The machinery consisted of 3 diesel supplying via 3 shafts 13.000 hp allowing a speed of 41 knots. The crew numbered 16 men. Wikepedia claims that the East German boats were delivered without the depth charge racks and supplies quite different technical details as a displacement of 148 (standard)-162 (full load) tons and as dimensions 34,08 x 6,72 x 1,5 metres, a crew numbering 24 men and with a horsepower of 12.500 hp even a speed of 45 knots.
