French heavy cruiser Tourville faster as contemporary British cruisers according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1928 no. 6
An item referred to the Naval and Mil, Record dated July 1928 reporting that the French 10.000 tons cruiser Tourville (1) on her full speed trial with a horsepower of 130.000 hp achieved a medium speed of 36,15 miles despite the high seas. It was believed that her speed at calm seas could even be higher. She was apparently faster as the British cruisers with a maximum speed of just 31,5 miles. Italy however seemed to have built a flotilla leader as large as a light cruiser with a maximum speed of 40 miles.(2)
