An item reported the arrival of the German crusier 1st class Hertha (1) captain Derzetski and the cruiser Bussard (2) captain lieutenant Von Bassewitz on Tursday afternoon at Tandjong Priok, Dutch East Indies exchanging gun salutes with the Dutch government. Immediately after the arrival were the guests welcomed by the adjutant of the Commanding officer of the Dutch naval force. On yesterday morning visited the Dutch vice admiral Stokhuyzen (3) the German vice admiral Bendemann (4) on board of the Hertha returning after a long visit to the Hr. Ms. Koningin Wilhelmina.(5) Accompanied by captain Derzetski Bendemann almost direct repaid the visit. He was described by the Dutch newspaper as having a strict appearance of a German military but not unfriendly with a full beard. Another Dutch newspaper De Locomotief dated 27th reported that the Hertha [coming from Bangkok, Thailand?] had as next destination Singapore. The Bussard came from Hong Kong via Laboean.(6)

Laid down by AG Vulcan, Stettin, Germany with yard number 233 in 1895, launched on 14 April 1897, commissioned on 23 July 1898, stricken on 6 December 1919 and broken up in 1920. Part of the Victoria Louisa-class protected cruisers consisting of the Victoria Louise, Hertha, Freya, Vineta and Hansa, preceded by the Kaiserin Augusta and succeeded by the Fürst Bismarck.
2. Laid down by Kaiserliche Werft, Danzig as Kreuzer IV Classe C in Augst 1888, launched on 23 January 1890, commissioned on 7 October 1890, decommissioned on 25 October 192 and broken up in 1913. Unprotected cruiser of the Bussard-class consisting of the Bussard, Falke, Seeadler, Condor and Cormoran, preceded y the Schwalbe-class and succeeded by the Gefion.
3. Frederik Jan Stokhuyzen (26 November 1842Arnhem, Netherlands-2 March 1930 The Hague, Netherlands), dismissed on 1 July 1902, commander of the Dutch naval force in the Dutch East 1898-1902.
4. Felix Eduard Robert Emil Bendemann (8 August 1848, Dresden, Germany-31 October 1915 Halensee/Berlin, Germany), served in the Prussian and German Imperial navies between 1864-1907.
5. The protected cruiser Koningin Wilhelmina der Nederlanden. Laid down at the navy yard, Amsterdam, Netherlands on 22 April 1891, launched on 22 October 1892, commissioned on 17 April 1894 and sold to be broken up on 14 October 1910.
6. According to the Jaarboek van de Koninklijke Nederlandsche Zeemacht 1901-1902 visited the SMS Hertha and Bussard visited Tandjong-Priok, Dutch East Indies between 23 January-6 February 1902 and the Hertha also and Sabang, Dutch East Indies between 3-4 March 1902.
