Soviet convoy sighted on the Danube off Vienna, Austria with jet fuel according to a CIA report dated 21 July 1953

An item reported the sighting on the Danube off the Stadlauer bridge, Vienna of a Soviet convoy probably transporting jet fuel for aircraft in Austria. It consisted of a Romanian motor ships with a Soviet navy officer on the bridge followed on a distance of around 1 kilometre by the tug Sevastopol (written in cyrillic letters) and behind her the Sestik or Sestok (written in cyrillic letters). The Soviet flagged Sevastopol also showed the Pulverflagge and was towing 2 heavily loaded tank barges which far more cleaner showing as normaly without any oil trace. The barges had a crew of Soviet sailors. The Pulverflagge is a warning that the cargo is explosive and or inflammable. The Sestik was towing two tank barges which seemed to be empty.
