The Romanian Black Sea Coastal Command according to a CIA report dated 24 October 1952

An item reported that the Romanian Black Sea Coastal Command (Comandamentul Litoralului Maritim), directly controlled by the Department of Armed Forces  was responsible for the military affairs regarding the Black Sea coast. Her headquarters were situated at Constanta. It consisted of a Marine Artillery Unit at Constanta and a Marine Unit at Sulina.The Marine Artillery Unit numbering 800 men and commanded by Pompiliu Bellu was responsible for the coastal batteries Tataia, Capul Midia, Vulturul, Agiges, Constanta and Mangalia consisting of 4 Armstrong coastal (except for the Tataia battery which had 6) guns and 12cm anti aircraft guns. The Marine Unit numbered 200 men and under her command was a 40 men strong detachment stationed on Snakes Inland (Insula Serpilor) off the coast. At Cerna Voda and Constnta were torpedoes and mines depots and at Tulcea and Otopeni ammunition depots.
