Part of the Forrest Sherman-class destroyers, preceded by the Mitscher-class and succeeded by the Farragut-class. Ordered in 23 October 1954, laid down by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation’s Fore River Shipyard, Quincy Massachusetts, USA on 5 April 1956, launched on 18 March 1956, delivered on 26 February 1958, commissioned on 7 March 1958, decommissioned on 11 August 1983, stricken on 26 July 1900 and sunk as a target on 22 August 1992.
Displacement 2.800 standard)-4.060 (full load) tons and as dimensions 124 (waterline)-127 (over all) x 14 x 6,7) metres or 407-418 x 45 x 22 feet. The machinery consisted of 4-1.200 psi Foster-Wheeler boilers and Westinghouse steam turbines supplying 70.000 ship via 2 shafts allowing a speed of 32,5 knot and with a speed of 20 knot a range of 4.500 nautical miles. The crew numbered 233 men(including 15 officers). The armament consisted of 3-12,7cm/3” 54cal dual purpose Mk42 guns, 4-7,6cm/3” 50 cal Mark 33 anti aircraft guns, 2 Mark 10/11 Hedgehogs and 6-32,4cm/12.75” Mark 32 torpedo tubes.
