The Polish Salvage Organisation (P.R.O.) according to a CIA report dated 28 July 1954

An item reported that the independent Polish Salvage Organisation (P.R.O.) supervised by the Polish Ministry of Shipping. The tasks were:
Salvage and removal of wrecks lying in Polish ports and territorial waters
Salvage of Polish ships sunk in the Baltic
Assistance of ships in problems in the Baltic
Assistance of Polish ships outside Polish territorial waters
Supplying the ministry each year with a quota of scrap material; in 1954 8.000 tons.
