Norwegian seal hunters returning home according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad date 19 June 1884

An item referred to tidings received from Hammerfest, Norway reporting the returning of one seal hunter after six weeks with a catch of 740 seals. A second one arrived at Vardó. Norway with a catch of 1.236 seals. Both ships had bee active at the ice border of the White Sea on a distance of 18 miles from the shore. The catch was mainly young seals, seen in large numbers on the ice now very shy. Large seals and walrus were not seen.
