An item reported that a plane based on the British aircraft carrier HMS Formidable shot down on 2 August a Japanese 4-engine aircraft on the Indian Ocean east-northeast of Trincomalee, Ceylon.(1)

1. Pennant 67. Built under the 1936 Naval Programme. Part of Illustrious-class aircraft carriers, preceded by Ark Royal, succeeded by Implacable-class, laid down with yard number 1007 by Harland&Wolff, Belfast, Northwen Ireland on 17 June 1937, launched on 17 August 1949, commissioned on 24 November 1940, decommissioned on 12 August 1947 and sold to be broken up in January 1953.
