Fitted out with steam
turbines. Displacement more as 2.000 tons. Building approved by the Congress
ignoring the Department of Navy in March 1915.Half October 1915 was the
registration of tenders still not started. Building costs of a fleet submarine
were estimated to be 3.750.000 Dutch guilders. Naval experts believed that the technical
demands for those submarined needed to be changed. The blueprint was published half
December and around February 1916 was the registration of offers to start.
Expected was that the design for the 1.500 tons submarine No. 52 would be used
as basic design.(1)
