Condition of the minesweeping squadron of the Russian Baltic Fleet in 1922

The Commissioner of the United States at Riga, Latvia supplied the Secretary of State at Washington, USA on 23 February 1922 more details about the condition of Russian warships. The minesweepers were in fact small destroyers used for minesweeping namely the Dmitriev, Zveriev, Vynoslyvy, Vnushtelny and the No. 213. Further more were 5 converted tugs and trawlers part of this squadron. All ships were in fairly good condition and available for active reserve next spring.

Project No. 14. Part of No. 7-class (Dai Nana Go-gata Sokatei) preceded by No. 13-class succeeded by No. 19-class. Built under the Maru 3 Keikaku/Third Fleet Replenishment Programme of 1937 as No. 52 to replace stricken destroyer minesweepers. Laid down by Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipyard on 21 December 1937, launched on 22 September 1938, completed on 15 February 1939, sunk in an air attack off Pandan, Caoayan near Vigan, Philippines on 10 December 1941 and stricken on 15 March 1942.

Project No. 14. Part of No. 7-class (Dai Nana Go-gata Sokatei) preceded by No. 13-class succeeded by No. 19-class. Built under the Maru 3 Keikaku/Third Fleet Replenishment Programme of 1937 as No. 53 to replace stricken destroyer minesweepers. Laid down by Uraga Dock Company on 30 May 1938, launched on 28 December 1938, completed on 15 July 1939 and sunk during an air attack off Makassar, Dutch East Indies on 28 March 1945 and stricken on 10 May 1945.

Japanese minesweeper No. 8 or W-8 1937-1946

Project No. 14. Part of No. 7-class (Dai Nana Go-gata Sokatei) preceded by No. 13-class succeeded by No. 19-class. Built under the Maru 3 Keikaku/Third Fleet Replenishment Programme of 1937 as No. 50. to replace stricken destroyer minesweepers. Laid down by Uraga Dock Company on 11 December 1937, launched on 28 May 1938, completed on 15 February 1939, scuttled by the British Royal Navy at Singapore on 10 July 1946 and stricken on 10 August 1946. 

American destroyers intended to visit harbours across Europe according to the Secret Admiralty Weekly Intelligence Summary Nr. 63 for the week ending 28 February 1920

An item reported that the American destroyers USS Chandler (1), Hovey (2), Long (3), Broome (4), Southard (5) and Alden (6) already lying in European waters were to visit in the next coming months Brest, the British Isles, the Baltic, Mediterranean and the Black Sea.

Of the Clemson-class destroyers, preceded by Wickes-class, succeeded by Farragut-class, laid down by William Cramp&Sons, Philadelphia, USA on 23 September 1919, launched on 26 April 1919, commissioned on 20 October 1919, decommissioned on 30 December 1922, recommissioned on 29 March 1903, reclassified as destroyer minesweeper DMS-12 on 19 November 1940 and sunk by Japanese kamikazes in the Lingayen Gulf, Philippines on 6 January 1945.

Of the Clemson-class destroyers, preceded by Wickes-class, succeeded by Farragut-class, laid down  William Cramp&Sons, Philadelphia, USA on 8 October 1918, launched on 14 May 1919, commissioned on 31 October 1919, decommissioned on 30 December 1922, recommissioned on 5 February 1930, reclassified as miscellaneous auxiliary AG-96 on 23 May 1945, decommissioned on 20 May 1946 and sold on 20 November 1946.

Of the Clemson-class destroyers, preceded by Wickes-class, succeeded by Farragut-class, laid down by William Cramp&Sons, Philadelphia, USA on 18 August 1918, launched on 31 March 1919, commissioned on 24 September 1919, decommissioned on 7 February 1922, recommissioned on 6 January 1930, reclassified as destroyer minesweper DMS-10 on 19 October 1940, wrecked on a pinnacle reef off Tsuken Shima on 9 October 1945, decommissioned on 15 December 1945, stricken on 8 January 1946 and wreck destroyed on 14 January 1946.
