German cargo ship Brisgravia seized by the Japanese on 28 March 1904

Gross tonnage 6,477 tons. Underway from Hamburg, Germany to Kiao-chao. Type cargo general. Captured off Moji on 28 March 1904 becuse having guns on board but released when it became clear that the guns were for the German government at Kiao-chao. The war between the Russian and Japanese empires was between 8 February 1904-5 September1905.

Built in Germany in 1904 as a cargo ship to be used in the German Chinese concessions, scuttled in the Jiaozhou Bay in November 1914, salvaged by the Japanese, renamed Koshu on 16 July 1915 and during the First World War used as cargo ship, fitted out as survey ship in 1921, classified as survey ship in 1922 and scrapped on 1 April 1940. Displacement 2,080 ton and as dimensions 253 (between perpendiculars)-264 (over all)x 36 x 22 (loaded) feet. Horsepower 800 hp and speed 8.5 (cruising)-11 (maximum) knots.
