From there he was ordered to go northwards to the Peloponnesus to support the Pasha’s of Romelie. He headed for Capa Matapan with 80 ships when hardly reaching the Gulf of Kolokijkthija the Greek fleet of 60 ships and 6 fire ships appeared. The 28 June neither of the fleets was the victor but the next day Greek fire ships burnt two brigs while heavily damaging an Egyptian frigate. The Turkish ships fled in great disorder towards the ‘Cycladische’ islands pursued by Miaulis.
