French navy experimenting with British torpedo boat in 1877 according to Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 9 June 1877

The local Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 9 June 1877 published a small news item dealing with the trials by the French navy with the recently in England newly built torpedo boat ‘The Thornicraft’ in the harbour of Cherbourg were quite successful. Two old ships of the line towed with a speed of 14 knots were destroyed.
