According to tidings from Smyrna dated 20 March departed the French admiral De Rigny the 15th with the ship of the line le Trident and 1 frigate from Voura towards the waters of Scio.
A telegraphic message from Toulon, as published by the newspaper Moniteur, reported the capture and burning by the French frigate l’Astrée 22 March not far away of the bay of Tunis of an Algerian pirate of 6 guns and 60 men. This pirate and the one blockaded in the harbour of Kagliari, Sardinia, are the only two which left Algiers in the past two months. Neither of the ships made any prizes.
