The German naval shipbuilding program according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 6 September 1862
According to the budget bill handed over by the German cabinet to the Parliament were 42.000.000 thalers to be spent in the next 8 years to fit out a navy. This program included 2 armoured corvettes, 4 large wood built corvettes, 2 flush deck wood built corvettes, 1 armoured gunboat, 1 mortar boat, 15 steam gunboats of 60 and 8 of 80 hp, 3 aviso’s and 2 transports all steam powered and of sailing warships 2 wood built frigates, 1 brig and 2 exercise vessels.
