Brazilian naval movements according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 12 February 1823

Rio Janeiro, 25 November [1822]. Bahia was still blockaded from the landside but lacking money and tiredness within both parties caused a calmness and probably to be by a blockade from the seaside within short time. It was claimed that two company ships bought in England by the Brazilian general Trelisberto Calderan for account of the Brazilian emperor and two other large vessels fitted out at New York would begin such a blockaded. The Brazilian squadron consisting of a ship of the line, two frigates and some corvettes would join them. Bahia had a garrison of 4.000 men including 1.800 marines and a squadron commanded by the brave Don Juan Felix.
