The Egyptian navy according to the Dutch newspaper Vlissingse Courant dated 31 January 1835

News from Frankfurt, Germany dated 25 January dealing with tidings out of Alexandria giving a very favourable opinion of the strength of the Egyptian navy and army. European naval officers acquainted with the Turkish navy confirmed, that the Egyptian navy was ‘miles ahead’ of the Turkish and could easily match her in times of war.
