Cuban gunboat Patria in action against rebels according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 20 August 1931

An item dated Havana, 19 August reported that government troops supported by aircraft and the gunboat Patria succeeded in defeating the rebels near Gibara.(1)

1. Launched on 10 August 1911 at the yard of Cramp, Philadelphia, USA and stricken in 1955. Two funnels. The Patria had a displacement of 1,100-1,200 tons and as dimensions 61,0 (between perpendiculars) x 11,0 x 4,0 metres or 220 x 36 x 1 feet. The machinery and Babcock boilers supplied 4,000 ihp allowing a speed of 16 knots and she had a coal bunker capacity of 150 tons. The armament consisted of 2-3” guns , 4-6pdr guns and 4-3pdr guns. Later used as a training ship.
