An item reported that as a result of the government budget year 1949 discussions the already for 1947 budgeted purchase of ten Liberty ships and two Cimavi ships was cancelled. The intention was to buy just on very limited scale with a maximum budged of 3.000.000 Dutch guilders. Further more was there a possibility available to charter ten ships for specified transports as coal and corn for the USA to the Netherlands. Chartering meant in that time a very important of exchange savings for the Netherlands.
