British Royal navy interested in using powder coal as fuel according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Tilburgsche Courant dated 7 December 1929

An item reported that according to parliamentary sources the cabinet intended to appoint a commission to investigate if powder coal was useful as fuel for the navy. It was expected that experiments on large scale were executed. Profits of these new fuel were that England herself possessed over a reserve, a huge capital now used to create oil reserves became available for other purposes and the British mine industry was substantial supported. With freighters was powder coal already tested and some time provided the British Admiralty an old warship which everyone could use for tests on his own costs of course.
